This young diarist was A wonderful el cuaderno de rutka that highlights all the things teenagers go through, friendship, loyalties, arguments, the beginnings of attraction to the opposite sex but the tragic circumstances under which this diary was written unfortunately were those experienced by the Jewish population in the ghetto.
Rutka’s eloquent testimony has been given new life. After her nephew presuaded her that the notebook needed to be shared she decided started the process. I’ve been trying to formulate this review in my head since finishing this thought provoking and extremely poignant book.
One can lose one’s mind thinking about this. I do not tend so much to this kind of comparison, because these are two different young girls with seemingly very diverse motivations.
